We get two Xander's for the price of one this week when Nicholas Brendon's identical twin, Kelly Schultz guest stars. In the season five premiere, Xander defiantly declared, "I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey." But alas, this is no time to go cold turkey on the bananas. It's bad timing again when a crafty demon (who is actually searching for the Slayer) crosses Xander's path instead. Subsequently, a second Xander is born and two Xanders really aren't better than one. Or are they? New Xander proceeds to take over real Xander's life, and actually makes the most of it -- unlike poor butt monkey boy. New Xander-guy is able to bamboozle everyone -- including Buffy. But it turns out, the demon simply spilt the one Xander into two, each taking week and strong qualities. Perhaps the guy can learn a lesson from his stronger half. Meanwhile, poor Riley admits that he's totally head-over-heels about the Buff. And he also admits that he knows she's not in love with him. Written by Jane Espenson Directed by James A. Contner |
